Back in July of 2016, I put a post up of 101 things I’d like to do in 1001 days. I recently realized that I never did an update in 2017 of all the things I had checked off the list. I wanted to share everything I had done and see what I thought I could check off the list in 2018.
After going through the list, I realized that I haven’t done much. Out of 101 things I’ve only checked off 15. I didn’t really expect to check off a ton but I most definitely thought I would do more than 15. However, I am glad that I did this update and now know that I’m clearly slacking off. Now that I am facing an impending move it’s time to really start checking things off, especially the ones I won’t be able to accomplish after our move.
Down below I’ve either written a small blurb on my accomplishments or when I plan to do something in 2018. If there isn’t anything that means I haven’t done it and there isn’t a plan right now to do it.
Take yearly photos of the kids – Thus far this one is accomplished because the boys are in school and get their pictures taken there. As for Dessa we did have her 1-year pictures taken and I have an appointment set up for her 2-year pictures.
Send birthday and holiday cards to family regularly
Build the kids a swing set
Get family photos taken
Go on a cousin’s camping trip – In August of 2016, Nick and I went on our first cousin’s camping trip and then again in August of 2017. Both trips were a lot of fun and it was really nice to get to know some of Nick’s extended family more.
Take the kid’s tent camping at least once every summer – Because I like to pile on, Nick and I took the kid’s tent camping in Long Beach Washington in August of 2016 and in August of 2017. Every year Long Beach has a kite festival and the kids love going to the beach to see all the cool kites.
Move back to Minnesota – This one won’t be accomplished because instead of moving to Minnesota we’re actually moving to Illinois.
Have an epic water balloon fight with the kids
Take the kids to Great Wolf Lodge
Enroll the boys in music lessons
Find the boys a sport they enjoy playing
Get a family dog – We adopted our first family dog from our local shelter back in June 2017. Unfortunately, in late November 2017, he escaped our yard and was hit by a car. We were all devasted but in December we adopted 2 puppies as a Christmas gift for the kids. The puppies certainly didn’t replace our first dog but it’s nice to have dogs for the kids to play with and learn responsibilities.

Take a barre class

Cut down our own Christmas tree – We cut down our first Christmas in December 2016 and then again in December 2017.
Go to a pumpkin patch and carve pumpkins – We went to Remlinger Farms and got pumpkins, rode a real steam train and drank hot apple cider in October 2016 and October 2017. The kids loved it and I hope to keep this tradition alive.
Bake Christmas cookies with the kids – In December 2017 I got Gray and Dessa to help with cookies but Odin wasn’t interested so I will say that this one is mostly accomplished.
Make the traditional Italian Christmas Dinner Feast of Seven Fish
Take the kids to an Easter egg hunt – In April 2017 the kids went to their first Easter egg hunt. Well, it was more of a grab as many eggs as you can in this field than an actual Easter egg hunt but they had a lot of fun.
Get the kids pictures taken with Santa and the Easter Bunny
Make Ghost footprints with the kids for Halloween
Make thankful trees with the kids for Thanksgiving
Make Santa handprints with the kids for Christmas
Throw a 4th of July party
Throw a Halloween party
Send out Christmas cards
Buy a house – I’m really hoping this happens sometime in the summer of 2018.
Buy a new vlogging camera
Buy a new mattress
Buy a pair of Uggs – I didn’t buy myself a pair of Uggs but did receive them as a Christmas gift from my in-laws in 2016.
Buy a pair of Tieks
Buy a bike
Buy Lara Casey’s Power Sheets – Again, I didn’t buy these but I did get the Power Sheets for Christmas 2017 from my husband.
Buy a Fitbit – Okay, apparently I’m really bad about buying myself stuff because I got a Fitbit Alta for Christmas 2017 from my in-laws.
Buy a Silhouette cutting machine – Yeah, I got this as a Christmas gift from my husband in 2016. I guess my family is using this section as my gift wishlist. That’s okay with me though.
