Late again with Dessa’s update. I’m so sorry but I never get a chance to sit down and write about anything. She’s still a sassy little diva but she’s also very thoughtful and loves to just watch everything and take it all in. She is very different from her brother’s who were very independent and just wanted to go, go, go. She seems to just want to be held and watch the things going on around her. She’s very friendly with people but does seem to have a streak of stranger danger in her. At one point my brother-in-law came over and she was quite confused on how her dad was able to hold her while standing up but was also sitting across the room at the kitchen table. She was so confused and got so upset she started to cry. I guess Nick and his brother look too much alike. She is still so cute and amazing and I’m so happy that she is mine. I wouldn’t trade her for the world.
Weight & Length: 12 lbs 12 oz & unknown right now I’ll have to find it later because I don’t remember.
Sleeping: Dessa has been taking few naps and is more active during the day but when she does nap it’s for longer periods of time. And she is basically sleeping through the night. Her last meal is around 9 pm and she normally sleeps until 5 am so I’m getting some good rest now!
Eating: She’s still breastfeeding but it has become a bit of a struggle. Her pediatrician said that she isn’t gaining enough weight so I’m now taking fenugreek and blessed thistle to try to get my supply up. It seems to be working but we’ll know for sure if we need to supplement with formal in a month at her next appointment.
Clothing: She’s wearing 6 months clothing all the time now. They are baggy on her but she’s so long that the 3 month size doesn’t fit her well. She does own a couple of pairs of shoes but they don’t fit that well and she isn’t thrilled to wear them, mostly just tolerates it because it makes her mom and dad smile.
Likes: She loves being smiled at and will smile right back too. She loves scooting around on her play mat and grabbing toys off the floor to put in her mouth. She loves sitting up or standing up, with assistance obviously.
Dislikes: Her car seat, still. Bumping her head on things as she wiggles around on the floor or bed. She doesn’t really like being in her swing or mamaroo anymore. Being tired.
Milestones: This girl can roll! She can go from her tummy to her back like a pro and she can go from her back to her tummy but she’s still working on getting that one arm out from under her body. She is also purposefully trying to grab things and is working on those fine motor skillz. She’s also able to inchworm her way around on the floor or bed so no leaving her unattended for even a minute.
Baby Gear We Love: She has been loving her new Fisher-Price Sit-Me-Up floor seat that we got her so she could be a little more independent with her sitting habits. We haven’t gotten her anything new recently so there isn’t much to say.
