I know, I know, this post is two weeks late. Life gets crazy and people get sick and things don’t get finished on time. I’m only human and it’s better late than never so don’t be judgy. I also want you to know that there will not be an August Goals post. Things are shifting a bit in my world and it’s back to school season so I’m not going to put more on my plate to stress about if it’s not necessary. In September I will go back to setting goals each month but right now I’m taking some time off.
What was the most memorable part of this past month?
The boys starting swim lessons, really making a plan and some big decisions for a big upcoming surprise and getting really sick at the end of the month and having it drag all the way into mid August.
What were the three biggest lessons you’ve learned in this past month?
- Putting too much on your plate and stressing out about it is no good and you will accomplish absolutely nothing. And, if you happen to be like me, you will get sick and stay sick for 3 weeks because you have run yourself completely ragged.
- Breaking things down into bite size pieces makes everything feel less overwhelming and you get more done.
- Being organized and having a plan makes me feel less stressed and I get more done.
Are you happy with how you spent your time this month? What steps can you take this next month to adjust them?
I am not at all happy with how I spent my time when it pertains to certain things this month. For what I have coming up in the future it was more of a waiting game to purchase some necessary items and to get started. On the other hand though, I got to spend a lot of quality time with the boys because of their swim lessons. So, it’s 50-50.
In August there will be less sitting around and more doing but I need to mindful to find a balance between what I’m doing and spending fun time with the kids.
How are you different between this past month and the month before it?
I honestly feel more stressed out. I don’t feel like I’ve made any improvements, just a lot of stress.
What or who are you especially grateful for this past month?
The universe for making everything fall into place and letting me get through August in a fairly good spot.
Name three things you can improve on next month. What are concrete actions you can take to work towards these improvements?
- Get healthy! Take my vitamins, get plenty of rest and eat healthy.
- Try to de-stress. Meditate, take some time to myself, make lists and just roll with whatever comes.
- Stay focused. I don’t want to let the outside distractions stop me from doing what I need to get done in August.
How did your goals go this month?
I started to use my fitness planner but after I got sick I never picked it up, so fail. I never made any schedules but the boys did have swim lessons and had a few playdates so it was only a half fail. I forgot to drop off my form to financial aid but I did look into loans so again only a half fail. I also failed at switching banks. We had some unexpected things come up financially that we had to pay for so it was best if we just stayed at the bank we are at right now. And finally, I read more than two books this month so I think that is an epic win and kind of makes up for a few of my fails. That’s the perks of being sick in bed, you have plenty of time to lay there and stare at a Kindle and pretend to be dead when someone walks in the room so you can keep laying there to stare at your Kindle.
From 1-10, how do you feel overall about this past month?
I’d give July 5. It was pretty mediocre and there is room for improvement. That’s alright, there’s always another month, right?
