I know I missed October but I really wasn’t expecting the month to get so busy. Even though October was crazy, I did accomplish a lot of my September goals, and that is what is most important. So here is what I accomplished in both September and October.
101 in 1001
- Enroll the boys in a sport – Accomplished! I enrolled the boys in swim classes at our local YMCA. Most of their classes for October were already full so the boys will start in early November. Also, Odin will be starting dodgeball in November as well. Unfortunately, Gray was not old enough to join.
- Enroll the boys in music lessons – This one is going to have to wait. The boys are already enrolled in so many things we couldn’t find a time for them to go to music lessons. I think in January we will have less going on and they can join in music lessons then.
- Write letters to myself to read in 1 year, 5 years and 10 years – I didn’t do this one again. This one just keeps getting procrastinated.
- Take a barre class – This one didn’t happen. I did find a barre studio and do plan on going I just have other things that need my focus more than this.
- No electronics one day a week – This one didn’t get accomplished either. I just kept forgetting that I wanted to do this so I’d inevitably pick up my phone or turn on my computer.
My goal in September was to use my bullet journal daily, and for most of the month, I did. There were only a few days that month where I didn’t pick it up or look at it. In October that drastically changed. The biggest problem with using my bullet journal in October was that I didn’t have enough time to set it up and most of the month was unfinished. I went back to a premade planner that was all set up for me since I didn’t have the time.
I did get to some house projects as well. Dessa’s room is finished other than new closet doors and new trim. My dad made her a beautiful bed and matching bookcases that make her room feel whimsical. I absolutely love her bedroom.
I didn’t get my kitchen painted as we need to rent a special latter to get to certain spots but we haven’t wanted to spend the money with the holiday’s coming up. I did get a good start on the basement wallpaper but that hasn’t be finished either.
We did get other random projects done as well. My in-laws came to visit, and my father in law patched the giant hole in our basement wall. He also put an electric plug above our projector in the basement and drywalled that, and as a housewarming gift, they bought us a new microwave! My father in law installed it for us and everything.
Getting a YMCA membership was top on my list of goals in September, and it happened. Nick and I went in and got it all set up, but we haven’t officially gone to any classes or anything, but it will happen, you’ll see. I’ve also been participating in a running group once a week. The truth is I don’t really like it. I like doing the exercises but I had the running part of it. I think I just need to join a fitness class instead of a running class.
I did not see any health care professional in September or October. Nick and I thought the insurance stuff was all worked out, but it wasn’t. We’ve finally figured it all out, so I’m going to see a doctor, dentist, and therapist in November and the other will have to wait until after the holiday when there isn’t so much going on.
I baked all the things! Banana bread, with and without chocolate chips, apple crisp, spiced apple cake, pumpkin cookies, and pumpkin bread. Goal accomplished!
Yeah, I didn’t get any nicer. Maybe being a bit of a bitch is just my lot in life. Although, I do feel like I’m only a bitch to people that deserve it so… take that for what it is.
I’m going to keep working on this. Maybe therapy will make me nicer.
I haven’t seen a therapist but I did find one that is in network and made an appointment so it is happening.

- Go to a yoga class.
- Go to a guided meditation.
- Make a “Thankful Tree.”
- Journal every day for a month.
- No fast food for a month.
In October I printed up my cleaning schedule, and in November I want to use it daily. I use The Fly Lady’s zone cleaning schedule which means there is a little to do every day and I’m going to do it.
In November I plan to use my YMCA membership several times a week. On Monday’s I plan to walk with my sister and as the weather changes, we’ll probably move that indoors at the YMCA. Then I’m doing Mat Pilates on Wednesdays and yoga on Thursdays. I’m nervous but excited.
I’ve been tossing around the idea of starting YouTube again. I do enjoy making videos but in the past felt very limited in what I could do. Now that we’ve moved and we’ve settled into a good routine I think a lot of those limitations aren’t there. I’m going draft a content calendar and see if I can get some new videos up. Making new videos is more of an experiment than a goal, but I still want to include it here to be more intentional with this idea.
I’ve got nothing for this one in November. I could put down being kind to more people, but I’m tired of being repetitive. It’s not happening so let’s put a pin in it for now.
Other than seeing a therapist in November I really want to start focusing on some outstanding and more personal goals of mine. A large part of why I’ve felt discontent with my life is because I feel like there hasn’t been much growth in my life. I am where I’ve been for the past 10 years. Nothing is different and nothing has changed. I just thought I’d be further along in life.
In November I want to figure out my plan for going back to school in 2019 and how that will work and what that will look like in the future. Another thing I want to focus on is our finances. Nick and I just sat down and worked on a budget. We’ve done this many times before and have never been able to stick to it, but in November we have to. We don’t have a choice this month.
